I have this feeling that legislators will go absolutely anal control-freak in the coming years, creating all sorts of complexities and bureaucracies imaginable, affecting all industries at once.
It will be very hard for the average person or entrepreneur to build a consistent tech solution by themselves—and, especially, to keep that solution running bug-free in the cloud. It just won’t happen.
SaaS will survive as a model, maybe under a different label, but the value proposition will be the same: ‘we are the big-brained hackers who actually understood the freaking laws, and we’re offering you this solution for 200 bucks a month that you are going to pay so you don’t have to care about tech or agents.
